Brings Teal and Inspiring Stories to Last Night’s Lions Club Meeting

At last night’s Lions Club meeting, we were thrilled to host Carlin Padgett, Community Outreach Coordinator, Lindy Langum, Dog Trainer, and Susan Bohn, Board Member, from Summit Assistance Dogs. This dedicated organization focuses on connecting expertly trained service dogs with individuals who have mobility challenges, and they shared their incredible mission with us. The highlight of the evening? Teal, one of Summit’s in-training service dogs, stole the show with her calm demeanor and adorable personality. As the team explained, these remarkable dogs undergo a rigorous two-year training program before they’re matched with their future human partners. Each stage of training is carefully designed to equip the dogs with the skills needed to transform the lives of people living with disabilities.
One of the most inspiring aspects of Summit’s work is their unique partnership with the Monroe Correctional Facility. Inmates at the facility participate in a 10-week program where they help train these incredible dogs. This partnership not only accelerates the dogs’ training but also provides the inmates with a meaningful way to give back and develop new skills.

The Summit team’s presentation wasn’t just informative—it was a heartwarming reminder of the difference one organization can make when passionate people and loyal four-legged friends come together for a greater cause.
